Before Jarek left for Japan, he was able to call us from the airport and we talked to him for a few minutes. It was so good to hear his voice. We all took turns asking him questions. He said that he was excited but nervous because he knows he will be lost the first couple of months. He felt like food wise he would be ok. He was planning on getting a rice maker and then just frying eggs or something with it. Rice is pretty cheap there. He said he would try to be as frugal as possible. I told him not to worry. What a great kid!! Honestly, I'm not sure I would be able to do what he is doing but I wasn't as smart as him at that age either.  Okay, point taken :)
